ASTM A106 pipe (also known as ASME SA106 pipe) belongs to American standard steel pipe. A106 contains three grades of A, B and C. A106A is C and Si components, and the tensile strength grade is 330MPa. A106B is C, Mn and Si components. Grade 415MPa, A106C is C, Mn, Si component, tensile strength grade is 485MPa. Among them, A106A is similar to China's 20#; A106B is similar to China's Q235; A106C is similar to Q345. It belongs to the ordinary carbon steel series and is one of the commonly used materials.
ASTM A106 seamless steel pipe includes two processes: cold drawn and hot rolled. Among them, cold drawn has higher dimensional accuracy than hot rolled, and the surface of hot rolled steel pipe is relatively rough. The large-diameter seamless steel pipe is hot-rolled steel pipe, and the small-diameter is cold drawn. Cold Rolled Steel Pipe
The exported A106 seamless steel pipes need to be grooved, painted, and plastic pipe caps are added at both ends, and they need to go through commodity inspections, and they can be exported only after they are qualified. The main export countries are Malaysia, the United States, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Italy and so on.
Wall Thickness: The minimum wall thickness at any point shall not be more than 12.5% under the nominal wall thickness specified.
Weights per Foot: Weight of any length shall not vary more than 10% over and 3.5% under that specified. NOTE — NPS 4 and smaller — weighed in lots. Larger sizes shall be weighed separately by length.
Hydrostatic Testing Inspection test pressures produce a stress in the pipe wall equal to 60% of specified minimum yield strength (SMYS) at room temperature. Maximum Pressures are not to exceed 2500 psi for NPS3 and must stay under 2800 psi for the larger sizes. Pressure is maintained for not less than 5 seconds.
Chemical composition: ① Below the specified maximum carbon content, for every 0.01% reduction in carbon content, the A106 seamless steel pipe is allowed to increase the manganese content by 0.06% above the specified maximum manganese content, but the maximum shall not exceed 1.35%; ②The sum of the five elements of Cu, Ni, Cr, Mo and V shall not exceed 1.00%.
*ASTM A 106 grade B Seamless Pressure Pipe 1) Unless otherwise specified by the purchaser, for each reduction of 0.01 % below the specified carbon maximum, an increase of 0.06 % manganese above the specified maximum will be permitted up to a maximum of 1.65 %.
*ASME SA 106 grade B Seamless Pressure Pipe 2) For each reduction of 0.01 % below the specified carbon maximum, an increase of 0.06 % manganese above the specified maximum will be permitted up to a maximum of 1.35 %.
