As a Commerce Editor, I spend the entire work week thinking about cooking gear, from grills to handheld gadgets.  I’m always looking at the newest kitchen appliances, line of cookware, and so on to add to my kitchen and to recommend for yours. And so, while I appreciate shiny-new products, I’m way more likely to recommend products we’ve used ourselves, time and time again.

For shopping events like October Prime Day, also called Prime Big Deals Days, we look for more than a deep discount — we want to find the best deals on products we can actually vouch for. We’ve scoured Amazon for standout sales on items we’ve tested. We’ve found many of our favorites, like air fryers, marked down by 30% – not to mention, one of our top-performing chef’s knives for 50% off. As we're on day two of the 48-hour sale, we’ve listed 20 you should add to your cart immediately.

The Le Creuset 7.25-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven is my all-time favorite kitchen purchase, and Amazon slashed the price of select colors (cerise, flame, and deep teal). For starters, I love how versatile it is. Whether I'm sauteing, searing, braising, frying, or cooking rice, this pot does its job well. Its heavy bottom heats evenly and retains heat. I've had mine for a few years now, and it's withstood high temperatures, the dishwasher, cooked-on food, and a move across the country. And after comparing it side by side to other Dutch ovens in our testing lab, I'm even more convinced that it's worth the splurge — and the discount of 17% off.

With results rivaling more expensive air fryers we tested, the 5-quart Cosori Pro won the title of Best Value. Since you can take off another 15% for Prime Big Deal Days, I think it’s a total steal. Using the preheat setting, we cooked fries, wings, and shrimp to a nice crisp, fast. We found its basket spacious, and we wouldn’t mind leaving it out on the counter given its clean, compact design and modern colors.

Caraway came out ahead in our nonstick cookware set tests as the best ceramic option. The set includes a Dutch oven, frying pan, sauté pan, and sauce pan, plus magnetic pan racks and a canvas lid holder — all for just $316 in the "perracotta" color. We were impressed with Caraway’s slick, non-toxic coating — little food (if any!) remained after cooking and it distributed heat very well. If you dislike cleanup like I do, this is a great buy.

When we tested pots and pans from 12 stainless steel cookware sets, this package from Calphalon won our pick for the best value. And for 33% off for Prime Big Deals Day, it's an even better value. The cookware has comfortable handles and feels lightweight, which made lifting it from the stove and holding it under the sink that much easier as we were testing. Overall, the pots and pans heated evenly and released food easily, which are two important factors. And the set has the advantage of being dishwasher-safe. If you're new to cooking with stainless steel or want to stock your kitchen in one purchase, I recommend this set.

We began our toaster oven tests with 13 models, and the KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven rose to the top as our Best Overall. With the turn of a dial, you can choose between nine presets: dehydrate, proof, bagel, toast, air fry, bake, broil, reheat, and keep warm. Versatile and easy to use, it stood out as a great value. Knock 10% off for Prime Big Deal Days, and the price is even better for what you’re getting, in my opinion.

Here are some words I live by: the bigger the discount, the better. And the Global 8-inch chef’s knife is one of the best at 38% off. We love its sharp blade and smooth, rivet-free handle, which keeps it lightweight but balanced. While denser foods might benefit from a heavier knife, we’d reach for this Global blade over and over for slicing, dicing, and mincing.

If limited kitchen space has kept you from buying an air fryer, we can’t recommend this 4-quart Ninja enough for small households. It easily earned the spot of the best small air fryer, with near-perfect results in all six of our cooking tests. I love its nonstick interior for easy cleaning. Grab it for $40 off while you can.

Two appliances in one, an air fryer toaster oven combo can save you counter space and money. Factor in a discount of 32% off for Prime Big Deals Days, and you’re saving even more. This Ninja took the title of Best Compact option in our tests thanks to its powerful heating element and efficient cooking. In addition to air frying and toasting, it bakes, roasts, broils, reheats, warms, proofs, slow cooks, and dehydrates.

The Meater stands out for its accurate readings and streamlined, wire-free design. That’s because most wireless meat thermometer probes are, despite the name, still actually attached to a wire. The Meater, however, connects to an app via Bluetooth or WiFi, and it charges via batteries in a sleek wooden block, adding to its visual appeal. I think this set of four is the perfect gift for cooks who love gadgets, especially while it’s $50 off.

I won’t sugarcoat it: serious bakers need a stand mixer. If you have a small space, I recommend the KitchenAid Artisan Mini as the best compact option. If you’re sticking to smaller projects, like a loaf of bread or cookies, it works just as well as the brand’s popular 5-quart and 7-quart stand mixers. It also comes with the same accessories: a stainless steel bowl, dough hook, flat beater, and wire whip. Snag it for $120 off.

When we tested 11 of the top-selling Vitamix blenders, the 5200 Professional-Grade Blender stood out for a few reasons. Its narrower container and tapered design create the ideal vortex for blending ingredients incredibly evenly; basically, it suctions ingredients back to the blades over and over. We love it for smoothies, nut milks, and nut butters. Right now, it stands out as an unbeatable deal at 45% off.

I tested the new Vitamix Propel Series 750 earlier this year, and it's become one of my favorite kitchen appliances. Other blenders I've used just can't compete with this Vitamix's powerful motor and sharp, aircraft-grade stainless steel blades. It takes just seconds to pulverize whole fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains. And as the weather cools down, I'm excited to use the blender's hot soup feature again. It can take on cold or hot ingredients (like roasted vegetables) and spin them into a steaming-hot soup. To top it off, the container is dishwasher-safe.

We dubbed this Calphalon the best air fryer toaster oven for beginners because it’s especially easy to use. Between its 11 cooking presets and easy-to-read LCD screen, which displays the time and temperature, this appliance takes the guesswork out of cooking. We found its heat consistent and even across our tests. It’s now 46% off.

Stasher's leak-proof silicone bags have replaced plastic zip-top bags for me. I've been using them for more than a few years now to store leftovers in the fridge and freezer, in addition to packing them with snacks, makeup, and toiletries when I travel. They can handle hot water (think sous vide cooking), which makes them dishwasher-safe, too. And I'm not the only editor who loves them — this pack of four earned the title of Best Overall when we tested reusable storage bags.

Smokeless fire pits aren’t actually smokeless, but the gas-powered Outland Living Mega comes very close. It heats up quickly, the temperature adjusts instantly, and we felt its heat up to 4 feet away. With plenty of cold days ahead, I think right now’s the best time of the year to make the investment, especially while it’s 20% off.

Without sharp blades, a knife set is useless. A self-sharpening block, like this one from J.A. Henckels has an edge over others, as it helps to keep knives in tip-top shape with every use. It comes with five essential knives, eight serrated steak knives, and shears for $200 off. The knives felt strong and sturdy when cutting thanks to their fully-forged design.

While testing coffee makers with grinders, the Breville Barista Pro lived up to its name. This sleek stainless steel espresso machine would be at home in a café. It’s efficient, but nothing is lost in grinding, extracting, or brewing, resulting in the perfect shot of espresso. Get $170 off for Prime Big Deals Day, and think of the money you’ll save making espresso at home.

Attachments can transform a KitchenAid stand mixer into another appliance, and the brand’s 3-Piece Pasta Roller & Cutter Attachment Set proved itself as a great pasta maker in our tests. After making dough with the mixer, use the attachments to cut and roll dough into spaghetti, fettuccine, and lasagna. Our results were consistent, and we found it cut through spaghetti better than most of the competition. It’s now 25% off.

While the stand mixer remains KitchenAid’s signature appliance, its Variable Speed Corded Hand Blender also uses sharp blades and a powerful motor to combine ingredients into soups, salad dressings, smoothies, hummus, and more. We found it one of the easiest immersion blenders to maneuver, without the splattering and suction that made some models annoying to use. At 25% off, it’s one of the best deals on our list.

Smart connectivity makes this air purifier an easy addition to your kitchen. Its app allows you to change settings when you’re not home, and it can connect to Alexa and other smart home assistants for extra convenience. Filtering odors, bacteria, viruses, and large particles will help keep your kitchen feeling fresh. It’s 15% off, so now’s a great time to grab one
